I thought I'd tell you all the tale of went I went to visit the city of York.  Craig and Mimi decided that it was time that we all had a break away and that it was high time that we soaked up a bit of culture. They asked me where it was that I fancied going, and (wrongly) assuming that that source of chocolately goodness, the Yorkie Bar, came from York, I decided upon there. When I got to York I noticed that the streets were not, as I had thought, paved in chocolate, but rather more of very old stone. Still, it looked like it might hold some adventure so I decided to explore and find out what attractions the town might offer.

From what I read in the tourist guide it sounded like a city full of history, romance, and general 'ye olde'-ness!

York TowerBut when I explored further I was disappointed to find that many of the buildings that I had travelled to see were in a sorry state of disrepair, actually crumbling away, leaving rubble all over the area.  In my aim to help the people of the disintegrating city I initiated my 'Clean up York' campaign.

As you can see, the problem was quite a bad one!  Even this nice old tower had big bits crumbling away from it, so I thought I'd start small - I went looking for a broom!

Ouch, my feet were so sore! You wouldn't believe how far one has to walk in York to get to the nearest hardware store - the silly people here have built a big wall around the entire city, presumably to stop people getting to their shops...

I walked for miles, all in vain.  Here I am nursing my poor sore feet.

I was about to give up hope when I stumbled across this Roman Centurion, doubtless about to go and pillage and crumble another great building - York Minster!

And there, upon his head, he was proudly displaying that he had stolen York's last broom!  I took my chance and being very brave (and a little stupid) I attacked!

As you can clearly see - he was no match for me!

If you are a monkey and ever happen to visit York, Monkey would like to suggest that you take a little time on evening to attend the ghost walk that begins at 'The Shambles' every evening from 7:30pm, which he found very entertaining, even though he failed to see any spooks.

Monkey would like to thank all of the great people of York who made his stay so enjoyable, especially the crazy woman he met whilst out walking on York City Walls, who made the stay so... memorable!
