Monkey is an avid music fan. He is himself a very competent bongo player and enjoys signing in the bath. After brief stints trying to like the Monkees and the Arctic Monkeys, he decided that not all music created by apes was pleasing to the ear and soul - he needed to find a new band - a band that likes animals, scientists, nuns, and... insects. His quest led him to The Flaming Lips!

 

Monkey will hopefully be going to see the Flaming Lips in London in April, and to get into the spirit of things he decided to remake their video to 'She Don't use Jelly', after a few monkey beers...

The first scene sees me, as the hero, playing the girl that only likes to spread vaseline on her toast... Wanting to get right into the method acting that I was taught by my friends Al and Bobby DeNiro I set about on my vaseline diet... I would not recommend this to anyone! It felt like I was eating a bar of melted soap - but I never had chapped lips!

I know a girl who reminds me of Cher, she's always changing the colour of her hair...

Little do many people realise the timescale involved in making a video of this calibre! It took me two years of 'Mullet-and-Go' lotion application to grow this luscious mane, only to be shaved off as soon as we managed to do the take...

She uses tangerines... We sent Mimi's out to buy some tangerines for the video (she is the one that purchases the great quantities of bananas that I consume on a daily basis). Unfortunately tangerines were out of season, we got some oranges instead.

This video-making lark is a synch! I'm thinking of touring next - I wonder if the Lips need an opening act?
